The Code of Conduct for Football Scouts

Football Scouting is big business. There is a huge network of football scouts across the UK who attend grassroots football games seeking to identify the next generation of talent, but how is this regulated, and what is the Code of Conduct?

Imagine a weekend where no grassroots referees face abuse—it’s really that simple. If you ever feel yourself getting frustrated at an U10 match and tempted to yell at the ref, take a step back and remember: it’s just an U10 match, and the referee is likely a 14-year-old kid. They won’t see it as “passion”; they’ll see it as “aggressive and abusive.”

So instead, take a breath, relax, and enjoy the game—you’ll find it’s much more enjoyable that way. Let’s treat young referees the way we’d want our own children to be treated. Will they make mistakes? Of course! That’s part of sport. But does that give us the right to berate them? Absolutely not.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone! ⚽️
