THE REF STOP – REFEREE KIT & EQUIPMENT

The Ref Stop was born through a conversation between now co-owners, Dale Wilson and Jamie Law.

Dale and Jamie were officiating on a game together, not for the first time, when they discovered they were both struggling to source top quality kit and equipment through an expert referee and match official supplier.

They set about exploring who were suppliers in the industries, what brands they could partner with, how to build the community feel they both wanted and how they could make it work, all whilst still working full time.

Dale is from a military background whilst Jamie has experience in sales and travel. Being a part owned Veteran company and something they are proud to promote year-round and significantly during the yearly remembrance period where The Ref Stop promotes and sells poppies for use on kits, with all profits going to The Royal British Legion.

Once they had researched, written a business plan, built the website and social media pages, they both decided to take the plunge, leave their full-time jobs and launch The Ref Stop.

In this short period of time, the brand has grown into the UK’s leading supplier of referee and match official kit and equipment, working with partners like The FA, countless County FA’s, Puma, Adidas, Joma, Vow, SIS, Fox 40 and countless other incredible partners.

We’ve supported underrepresented grassroots officials, donating over £1000 in gear to county-wide women referees, fostering inclusivity. This year, we pledged to align with The FA’s 23-26 strategy and proudly sponsor local women’s football players Alicia Scott and Jade Richards.

Dale and Jamie are now Level 4 and 5 match officials and Dale is the Chair of The Preston Referee’s Society and Jamie is also a grassroots football coach, bringing the next generation through.
