Junior grassroots football is the heartbeat of the game in the UK, shaping the next generation of players, coaches, referees, and lifelong fans. At the Junior Grassroots Hub, our mission is to champion this community at every level, providing practical support, resources, and a strong, independent voice for everyone involved.
One of the key ways we support grassroots football is by making vital information accessible to everyone. Our website acts as a central hub where clubs, coaches, referees, players, and parents can find everything from league directories and supplier contacts to practical guides and news about the junior game. We offer clear, independent advice on club management, player development, safeguarding, funding, and much more, ensuring that those at the heart of the grassroots game are always informed and empowered.
Grassroots clubs rely on passionate volunteers, dedicated coaches, and committed match officials. We celebrate and support their efforts through spotlight features, interviews, and initiatives that share their stories with the wider community. The Junior Grassroots Hub recognises the immense value of these individuals and works to connect them with the resources, training, and recognition they deserve.
A thriving grassroots scene depends on a strong sense of community. We provide opportunities for clubs, coaches, parents, and suppliers to network and share experiences. Our online forums, social media groups, and collaborative projects encourage discussion, support, and the sharing of best practices. By fostering these connections, we help create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can contribute and benefit.
At the Junior Grassroots Hub, we are committed to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and respect across the game. We advocate for equal opportunities for all children, regardless of background or ability, and support initiatives that break down barriers to participation. Through our content and campaigns, we encourage clubs to adopt inclusive practices and celebrate the unique contributions of every participant.
We actively run and support initiatives designed to give back to the junior grassroots community. Our Weekly Winners competition, for example, provides clubs with vital funds and recognises the dedication of volunteers and players. By involving the community in these projects, we aim to reward hard work, fund new opportunities, and create positive experiences for young footballers and their clubs.
As an independent platform, the Junior Grassroots Hub is able to represent the true voice of grassroots football. We listen to the challenges faced by our community and advocate for positive change with governing bodies, suppliers, and local authorities. Our independence means we can speak up on important issues and campaign for the best interests of clubs, players, and supporters.
Junior grassroots football faces constant challenges, but with the right support, it continues to thrive. The Junior Grassroots Hub remains committed to supporting this vital part of the game, championing every club, coach, referee, parent, and player. Together, we can ensure that the grassroots game remains accessible, vibrant, and full of opportunity for generations to come.
As a U9s coach (and U8s last season), I honestly couldn’t tell you how many goals we scored all year.
I don’t know our top scorer.
I never praised a child just for scoring.
What I did focus on was effort.
Listening.
Learning.
Respect.
Kindness.
Trying again after mistakes.
Yes, football is about goals.
But at this age, success looks like confidence, resilience, teamwork — and kids who love coming back next week.
I’m not here to create great footballers.
I’m here to help shape good human beings through football.
If they become great players too?
That’s a bonus.
👏⚽
The scoreboard only tells part of the story.
The real win is confidence.
It’s sticking at it.
It’s enjoying the game.
If they walk off smiling, you’ve done your job.

That whistle doesn’t belong to a professional.
It belongs to a young person finding their feet.
They’re learning the laws.
Learning confidence.
Learning how to handle pressure most adults couldn’t.
Every shout chips away.
Every comment sticks.
And too often, this is how it ends:
another young referee walks away.
No ref.
No match.
